Members of Chambers’ Employment and Discrimination Team have extensive experience of representing employers and employees both in the Employment Tribunal and the Employment Appeal Tribunal, as well as acting in employment related claims in the civil courts.

In addition, members regularly represent employees at internal disciplinary hearings and at more formal hearings before professional disciplinary panels, such as those convened by the General Medical Council and the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

In respect of non-contentious work, our Barristers have advised both small businesses and large scale employers in a variety of matters, ranging from TUPE transfers to the legality of discrimination, disciplinary and recruitment policies.

Members’ expertise is not however confined to the employment field with barristers acting in claims arising from complaints of discrimination in the provision of facilities and services generally.

Our Barristers have acted and advised in the following areas:

  • Unfair dismissal
  • Wrongful dismissal
  • TUPE transfers
  • Redundancy
  • Contractual claims
  • Unlawful deductions from wages
  • Equal pay claims
  • Minimum wage claims
  • Working Time Regulations
  • Pensions
  • Employee’s duty of confidence
  • Restrictive covenants
  • Privacy in the workplace
  • Disability discrimination

Barristers within the Employment & Discrimination team are regular contributors to Chambers’ ongoing accredited seminar programme and can deliver bespoke in-house training upon request. To find out more about the work of our employment barristers click on Employment Barristers
