Many courts are continuing to conduct hearings remotely. Our members have extensive experience of remote hearings, and can advise on preparation and tactics and effectively represent clients at such hearings. Kemi Ojitiku acted in the recent case of K (Children: Placement Orders) representing a father in long and complex proceedings regarding whether care and placement orders, and adoption orders, should be made. The CA ordered that the matter be remitted to a fresh tribunal.

Kate prosecutes and defends in the Crown Court, including multi-handed trials and confiscation hearings. She is instructed in a wide range of cases, including s.18 GBH and other offences against the person, burglary, robbery, weapons offences, drugs cases, sexual offences and identity document offences. Local authority work includes benefit fraud, counterfeit goods offences and offences under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
Kate has also acted for the RSPCA in animal cruelty cases.
Kate is an experienced practitioner representing prisoners at parole hearings and adjudications.
Kate has significant experience of licensing appeals and of applications before licensing sub-committees. She has acted for licensees and also for licensing authorities, including as legal adviser to sub-committees.
Kate has appeared before independent appeal panels in appeals against admission and exclusion decisions. She has also acted as legal adviser to the panel.
