He is able to bring significant experience and understanding to the difficulties and anxieties felt by parents at risk of losing their children whether through separation or the instigation of care proceedings.
Piers has previously practised criminal work, particularly defence work and does still take instructions in selected cases where there is a particularly novel element or a connection to his family practice. He has practiced in the full range of criminal cases, but deals particularly with matters involving fraud, serious violence and drugs.
Piers is particularly interested in matters concerning local government and democracy, including electoral offences, and has extensive experience of prosecuting for local authorities including cases involving benefit fraud, trading standards, food hygiene and health and safety matters.
