Practice Areas

Sophie has extensive experience across the spectrum of residence, contact and placement proceedings under the Children Act; appearing in both private and public law disputes.  She is often instructed on behalf of parents and local authorities alike which places her in an excellent position to anticipate arguments from both perspectives and accordingly achieve the best possible result for her client.  She has particular experience dealing with vulnerable young Mothers in both private law disputes and care proceedings and is known for her approachable yet robust manner.

Sophie has specific experience of the Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC) which currently sits at Inner London Family Proceedings Court.

Sophie has appeared in the High Court on several occasions, including in Wardship proceedings and has been instructed on long running complex care matters with multiple, historic, sexual abuse allegations listed for several weeks.

Sophie further is regularly instructed in financial matters, both arising under the Matrimonial Causes Act and also cohabitee claims under TOLATA.

Sophie has given accredited seminars in her areas of expertise, most recently in respect of Financial Relief and running ‘Middle-Income’ cases.  Sophie is happy to give tailored seminars.

Civil (General and Employment)
